We Strive

At Jasmyn, we are committed to fostering a sustainable lifestyle. Our journey towards making a positive environmental impact began over 20 years ago.

For us, success is measured not just in profits but in the appreciation of our customers and the preservation of our stunning natural surroundings, including the ancient mountain views that inspire us. We view our role in the cycle of production, processing, and sales as a vital contribution to the sustainability of life on Earth.

Energy Consumption

Our innovative architecture features the largest single-framed thatched roof in Africa, providing excellent temperature control without air-conditioning. This design reflects our commitment to sustainable practices, as seen in our original green building, where 25% is insulated with 50cm of soil and planted with grass and herbs to optimize temperature regulation and energy use. The hexagonal design and 400mm cavity walls further enhance this efficiency.

In 2015, Jasmyn, alongside our supportive farming network, embraced self-sustainability by fully transitioning to solar energy, freeing us from reliance on Eskom's infrastructure.

Recycling

At Jasmyn, we prioritize sustainability with our innovative cardboard packing system at checkout, offering an eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags. The bags we do provide are 100% biodegradable. We ensure that most of our non-biodegradable waste is sorted, baled, and collected by a recycling company.

Our bio-waste is repurposed through our cattle and earthworm farm. The earthworm farm is crucial in soil rehabilitation, producing organic fertilizer and compost that enrich our farmlands. Our latest initiative focuses on transitioning to entirely recyclable and compostable packaging.

We aim to inspire our customers to adopt green living practices at home, reinforcing their trust in us as their source for fresh produce. At Jasmyn, we are committed to action, driven by our passion for both our customers and the environment.
